RoLiCer Trainings-Workshop, Sept. 29-30, 2014, Karlsruhe, Germany

[Flyer]

The RoLiCer Project

RoliCer is an EU-project funded by the 7th Framework Programme under the call “Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new Production Technologies NMP”. As collaborative research project RoLiCer covers companies and research institutions within Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and the Nederlands. The scientific aim of RoLiCer is to obtain “Enhanced reliability and lifetime of ceramic components through multiscale modeling of degradation and damage” by studying silicon nitride ceramics from atomistic up to macroscopic scale applying simulations as well as experimental methods.

Objective of the Trainings-Workshop

The training-workshop aims at getting young scientists familiar with the application of multi-scale lifetime modeling in various engineering applications. The focus of this training week will be on the degradation mechanisms in ceramic based materials. In particular, the following topics will be addressed:

27th International Workshop Research in Mechanics of Composites, Dec. 11-12, 2014, Bad Herrenalb, Germany

[Flyer]

Objective of the Workshop

Modern fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) show a macroscopic material behavior depending sensitively on the fiber orientation distribution and arrangement as well as the generally nonlinear material behavior of the constituents. Additionally, the overall composite behavior is influenced by fluid-structure interaction, by curing during the production process as well as by the interface properties. Understanding the correlation of both the microstructure and the micromechanical behavior on the one side and the macroscopic composite behavior on the other side is of fundamental interest for the design of materials, the optimization of production processes as well as the dimensioning and  optimization of construction parts. In this workshop, new approaches for the material modeling of fiber reinforced composites, corresponding numerical solution strategies and experimental techniques are discussed.

25th International Workshop Research in Mechanics of Composites, Dec. 6-7, 2012, Bad Herrenalb, Germany

[Flyer]

Objective of the Workshop

Modern and classic composites display a macroscopic material behavior depending on their nanostructure, microstructure, and mesostructure in a complex way. The mechanisms and size scales relevant for the macroscopic material behavior depend, among others, on the mechanical or physical sizes considered and on the thermomechanical process conduct. Understanding the correlation of both the microstructure and micromechanical behavior and the macroscopic material behavior of components is of fundamental interest for a number of composite utilization problems such as the selection and the design of materials as well as the dimensioning and optimization of construction parts.

In this workshop, new approaches for the material modeling of composites are introduced and discussed with respect to the multiscale properties of the material type.
This workshop serves young researchers and well-established scientists to discuss their research experiences and allows for interdisciplinary discussions covering the
fields of applied mathematics, mechanics and materials science.

Themenschwerpunkte
• Mikromechanik
• Mehrskalenmethoden
• Homogenisierungsmethoden
• Mechanisches und thermisches Verhalten
• Beschreibung von Mikrostrukturen
• Thermomechanische Kopplungen
• Experimentelle Methoden
• Numerische Methoden
• Mikrostrukturbildung
• Gradierte Werkstoffe
